Westport To Buckfield & Rosmoney route is located on gentle gradients and quiet country roads. It is a 25km and 3 hour roundtrip. This route starts with taking the Greenway to Newport then turning left at the sign for Buckfield Lodge. This brings you onto quiet country roads with very little traffic. Stop off at the Buckfield small country pub which is full of old world charm in a wonderful peaceful spot, with a lovely seating area overlooking the fields. Continue on to the scenic Roscahill Bay where you will find the 15th century famous Grainne O’Malley’s Castle. From here cycle over to Rosmoney Bay and Sailing Club.
There a many small side roads which can be explored and bring you down to quiet and secluded beaches. Just a few kilometres now from Westport, you will pass horse riding stables and finally Westport Golf Club where visitors are welcome to have drink or visit the restaurant. The very best views of Clew Bay are from the bar/restaurant terrace. We would advise the use of trailers or seats for younger and more inexperienced children.
